EARLY LEARNING PRE-K PROGRAM FOR AGES 4 TO 5 YEARS OLD
The Pre-K Program in Conroe, TX, at Grace Early Education Center is the last, most important step before kindergarten, built for children ages 4 to 5 who are ready to become serious learners. This is the year reading, writing, and math move from playful exposure to real skill, taught through a Christ-centered curriculum that shapes character alongside academics. With low ratios and teachers who know exactly what kindergarten expects, we send children off confident, capable, and ready for the classroom ahead.
What Is Inside Our Pre-K Program
Pre-K is the bridge between preschool and kindergarten, the year the pieces come together. Children who once explored letters now write their own first and last names; children who counted objects now recognize numbers, match, and begin simple addition. Our pre-k reading program leans on phonics, sight words, spelling, and rhyming to build real literacy, while a Christian worldview shapes the character and confidence behind it. Child development research links strong pre-k experiences to smoother kindergarten transitions and lasting school success.
The Pre-K classroom is a little more structured because these children are serious learners now, but there is still plenty of room to socialize and have fun. Days blend focused academics with play-based learning, music, art, and physical activity, and STEAM runs throughout, so science, technology, engineering, art, and math become an exciting part of the routine. Prayer before meals and rest, daily affirmations, and age-appropriate Bible stories weave faith through everything, so children grow spiritually as they get ready for kindergarten.
Program Highlights
- Language and Literacy Development: children learn to write their first and last names. Phonics, sight words, spelling, letter tracing, and the use of rhyming words are all used to increase language proficiency.
- Emotional and Social Development: children work on recognizing their own emotions and the emotions of others. They practice expressing feelings through words and experience daily affirmations.
- Science and Math Development: Science is introduced through observation and prediction. Children begin to understand cause and effect. Pre-K students learn number recognition, simple addition, matching, and time telling.
- Physical and Behavioral Development: using words to communicate feelings and needs is emphasized, and self-soothing is encouraged. Gross motor skills are further developed through organized activity.
- Spiritual Development: age-appropriate Bible stories and songs are taught. Bible story-themed worksheets are used when teaching other learning concepts. Prayer before eating and resting is introduced.

Pre-K Program FAQs for Conroe, TX
What age is Pre-K, and is my child old enough?
Our Pre-K program is for children ages 4 to 5, the year before kindergarten. Most Texas districts require a child to turn 5 by September 1 to start kindergarten the following year, so Pre-K is the ideal bridge for children in that window. Reach out and we can help you check where your child falls.
What is the difference between preschool and Pre-K?
Preschool builds early skills through play and exploration, while Pre-K sharpens those skills in a more structured setting aimed squarely at kindergarten. In Pre-K, reading, writing, and math move from playful exposure to real practice, with classroom routines that mirror what kindergarten expects.
Will my child learn to read in your Pre-K reading program?
Pre-K children build the foundation for reading through phonics, sight words, spelling, letter tracing, and rhyming, and they learn to write their first and last names. Some children begin reading simple words; all leave with the literacy skills kindergarten builds on.
How does your Pre-K program prepare children for kindergarten?
Kindergarten readiness is our stated goal. Through reading, writing, math, STEAM, and daily routines like following directions and working in groups, children leave completely ready for kindergarten, academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
What curriculum do you use for Pre-K in Conroe, TX?
Our Pre-K program uses a traditional learning curriculum taught from a Christian worldview, with STEAM woven throughout. It covers language and literacy, science and math, social-emotional growth, physical development, and faith formation.
Is faith part of the Pre-K program at Grace in Conroe, TX?
Yes. Age-appropriate Bible stories and songs, Bible-themed lessons, daily affirmations, and prayer before meals and rest are woven through the week, so children grow spiritually alongside their academic preparation.
What is the teacher-to-child ratio in the Conroe, TX Pre-K classroom?
We keep ratios low so each Pre-K child receives individualized attention. Smaller groups matter most in this year, when expectations rise and each child needs support to master real reading, writing, and math.
How do I enroll my child in Pre-K, and what does it cost?
Tuition and schedules vary, so reach out to us for current rates and availability. To enroll, contact us or stop by for a tour, and we will walk you through Pre-K enrollment and your child’s path into kindergarten.

We have attended Grace for a year now. My son started in 3s and is now in Pre-K. I LOVE how small the class sizes are! The largest class he was ever in was 9 kids. Therefore, there is really personalized attention to each child. Each teacher is given the freedom to make their lesson plans and it was really cool to see how passionate his teachers would get in what they did with the kids. He came home with numerous art projects but also handwriting papers. He just turned four and can do all the ABCs, numbers to 30, write his name, spell 5-10 words, recognize 2-3 words, tell you the seasons, days of the week, months of the year and the city, state, country and continent he lives on. They also have some enrichment with PE and soccer shots, although they used to have music and Spanish. The pastor is the kindest woman you will meet and they do Chapel on Wednesdays. This school really feels like a community, where other schools feel like an "institution." Each teacher and staff knows you, your kids and their needs. I come from a small town, and this is the first real community I have found for my son since I have lived here. Thank you Grace staff for all you do and how much you care!Posted on Google![]()

My grandson has gone to the summer program there in the past (he's in grade school now). He loved it, had an amazing time. The school was always filled with laugher and smiles whenever I would drop him off and pick him up. Every teacher I ran into always greeted me with a smile and said hello. It is a very warm and loving atmosphere. He would tell me he loved his teachers. He still talks about some to this day. We just loved our time at Grace and wish all the best for the teachers, staff, school and church!Posted on Google![]()
